Reflection

These are the three things that I mention in my "About" section when it came to what this project provided me with. I still really believe this and here are a few of my final thoughts on it:

1) Introspective Journey

Through this project, I have learned so much about myself as a person and as someone who is part of this community. It sparked my curiosity for critical issues that Asian Americans face and at the same time I was able to rediscover my more creative side through using art to speak for a lot of the ideas I was trying to convey. Learning about my grandmother's past was the catalyst for all this reflection and how I came up with what I wanted to explore.

2) Learning Experience

I really enjoyed how I have taken a more critical and researched stance to help explain a lot of the personal experiences I was going through. Some of my favorite topics that I explored was the intersection between the immigrant experience and mental health among the children of those who immigrated. It has shown me that despite the overwhelming numbers of those immigrating, there is still a long way to go when it comes to understanding the mental health impacts of this. This is something I hope to look into in the future.

 3) Therapeutic Function

This project served like a platform for me to explore the issues I was most interested in. It provided me with internal discussion and many "ah-hah" moments when thinking about how researched concepts applied to my own life. Being able to dedicate so much time into something that really fulfilled my intellectual curiosity allowed me to expand my mind and made me feel truly fulfilled.  I realize now that just talking about these issues and identity is so helpful and a crucial in order to come to terms with many things.
